The Little Sparrow, Édith Piaf, interpreted chanson songs in a way that told of a turbulent life full of heartbreak. French singer Valérie Gabail is a brilliant contemporary vocalist whose lyrical soprano voice is suited to a wide range of music, from baroque to cabaret. Timo Hietala’s crème de la crème arrangements take the concert audience on a journey to the music salons of Montparnasse in Paris and the golden age of chanson. The concert is conducted by Eero Lehtimäki.
