AFTERNOON CONCERT: CRUSELL
Reinhard Goebel, conductor
Asko Heiskanen, clarinet
Jukka Rantamäki, host
Bernhard Henrik Crusell: Clarinet Concerto no. 3
Anton Eberl: Symphony in E flat major
The first matinee of the autumn features two works from the Classical era. The energetic Symphony of Austrian composer Anton Eberl was premiered in 1805 at the same concert as Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony and was the better received of the two. The orchestra’s own clarinettist Asko Heiskanen appears as soloist in the virtuoso Clarinet Concerto of Finnish-born composer Bernhard Henrik Crusell.
